塞上古城银川，早在3万年前就有人类在水洞沟遗址繁衍生息，是史上西夏王朝的首都，民间传说中又称“凤凰城”，古称“兴庆府”、“宁夏城”，属中温带大陆性气候，有著名的国家级风景区西夏王陵。
TherearetwoancientcastlesitesintheopenwildernessinthenorthwestsuburbofYinchuancity.ThisisthefamouszhenbeibaoancientcityinChina.ThecastleisaculturalrelicprotectionunitinYinchuanCity,andisnowthelocationofWesternChinaFilmandtelevisioncity.
ThetwocastlesweregarrisonfortressessetupintheMingandQingDynastiestopreventtheinvasionofFucheng(YinchuanCity)byvariousnationalitiestothenorthofHelanMountain.Zhenbeibaoalsogotitsname.Thelocalpeoplecallthem"oldcastle"and"NewCastle".Accordingtolocalrecords,theoldfortwasbuiltinthe13thyearofHongzhi(1500),andthenewfortwasbuiltinthe5thyearofQianlong(1740).
Thetwofortresses,onesouthandonenorth,bothfaceeastintheWest.Theoldcastleclosetotheeastsideofthemountainhighwayhasbeencompletelyerodedbythewind,andonlytheremnantwallsandbrokenwallsremain.Thecityis175meterslongintheEastandWestand160meterswideintheSouthandNorth.PassingthroughHuangturoadinthecitytothenorthisthesiteoftheoldcastleurn.Another200meterstothenorthisthenewcastle.Xinbaocityisrelativelycomplete,170meterslongfromeasttowestand150meterswidefromnorthtosouth.Thewallsarerammedwithloessandaremorethan10metershigh.ThereisasemicircleurnintheEastandaslopeonthesouthsideofthegatetoclimbthewall.Thecitywallis5meterswide,withcrenels1.8metershigh.Therewereturretsatthefourcornersofthecitywall,andthebaseoftheturretcanbeseen.
Afterhundredsofyearsofvicissitudes,zhenbeibaohasbecomeatouristlandscapeintheeasternfootofHelanMountainwithitsvigorousandsimplestyle.Withitsuniquemysteriouscharm,ithasarousedthestronginterestofmanyfamousChinesefilmartistsandhasbeenpraisedas"amysterioustreasureland"byartists.
